how baby formula can change the world

this week we’ve been talking to you guys about Real Hope For Haiti. I can’t even begin to tell you about all of the awesome responses we’ve gotten from this. So many people have decided to cut back & make life changes when it comes to their everyday spending, in order to give & make an incredible change in the life of a Haitian child & Haitian adult that is working at RHFH.

with the onset of our adoption, i have begun to think of the expenses that is going to come our way with a newborn child. with a baby comes diapers, medicine, formula, and so much more. all it will take for us is a budget & a change in our spending habits in order for us to afford this for our child. after spending time in Haiti i know first hand that this is not a luxury that most people have there. most families can’t even afford to feed themselves, much less their children.

i’ve been reading the blogs of licia & lori for quite some time now, and it always seems a child has been dropped off at the gate. the family can’t provide for them, and they see this place as a place of refuge. They feel as if this is the only option they think they have for their child. Praise God that RHFH is a place of refuge & hope. they bring the children in, feed them, nurse them, medicate them, love them, play with them, do whatever they can to make sure this child will grow up as healthy as it can. there hope is that this child will have the ability to live, and one day bring change to Haiti.

i believe the rescue center has 50+ children in it right now. that means there is a lot of formula that needs to be bought. one way that you & i can help RHFH is by purchasing baby formula. for $40 a month you & i can provide enough formula for one child. will you prayerfully consider helping RHFH? together you & i can help bring hope to Haiti.

  1. [...] For a practical thing you can do right now check out and donate to Real Hope For Hati. Read about it here. [...]

  2. I would love to help your cause, and many others. But I do not. I never have and never will. Not because I don’t care. But because a study done a few years ago found that only .80 cents of every dollar donated actually makes it to the people who need it.

From corrupt governments or local outlaw brigands intercepting it and using it for their own good, to pilfering of monies by corrupt aide workers, very little of our help actually helps. If I knew of someway I could make 100% sure that what I gave made its way 100% into the hands of the person who needed it, I would help.

  3. I wanted to give you a book that I believe you will enjoy…you probably have already either read it or hearda bout it but it’s called “The Shack” by William P. Young. It is a must read…and then you decide if it’s fiction or non-fiction…

  4. I hope you keep posting updates, very interesting to hear how it is going.

@croixian1 I am sorry but I think that argument is a little ridiculous. This is not a perfect world we live in, I am actually surprised it is 80%. So just because 8/10ths of what you give is all that is going to the cause you are going to give zero? Makes no sense to me at all, sorry.

Exactly what do you think the Red Cross supports? They have expenses, labor, etc etc, and I know they use their donations to support their services. You either think it is a good cause or you don’t, good grief.

Sorry Steve, that just struck a nerve. I would rather support a child for $30 a month knowing only $15 is actually making it to the child than doing nothing at all… yeeeshh.

  5. Just wondering croixian, what do you do with your money instead? I don’t think we should make the assumption that your lack of support for big organizations means that you just have a bigger tv. Have you found something local that you invest in? I’ve been looking for a good outlet in my town that other people might not see.
