The Gafford Family

August 5, 2009

I met Marcus Gafford almost eight years ago at Houston Baptist University. I was transferring to the college, and I chose to go 'pot luck' on my roommate situation in the college apartments. I walked in to meet a sawed off, muscled up, red headed, beared Irish man who likes to paint with his shirt off. We quickly became best friends, (not because he painted shirtless), and we have remained that way all of this time. Marcus is an incredible painter, designer, artist, and photographer. He is one of...if not the main reason I had a desire to learn to photography. He is one of the most creative guys I know, and it's an honor to have him as a friend. He & his family have a special place in my heart. They recently came to Austin to visit, and we took them to see the Bats under the South Congress Bridge. We also took them to get some Amy's Icecream. I grabbed the Canon AE-1 as we walked out of the door, and these are a few of the photos from yesterday. We had such a blast hanging with these guys!

Hey there Mr. Bush, how much do you love MacKayla??  I think she is the prettiest, funniest, full of life little girl!  I tell Crystal all the time that she makes me so happy.  These are great and I love this family too.  Your photography is amazing, truly inspiring…thank you for sharing.  And also, one thing that plagues me and I wanted to call you (but don’t have your number) but that I should of let you use my equipment at the Barnett Wedding.  I just didn’t think about it until it was too late, and you said that you would of rented from me instead of other places…and I want you to know that you never have to rent anything from me.  I should of called you so that way you didn’t have to travel with all that stuff and especially have to rent it.  I’m sorry, but next time if you need anything let me know.  Peace.
