I met Marcus Gafford almost eight years ago at Houston Baptist University. I was transferring to the college, and I chose to go 'pot luck' on my roommate situation in the college apartments. I walked in to meet a sawed off, muscled up, red headed, beared Irish man who likes to paint with his shirt off. We quickly became best friends, (not because he painted shirtless), and we have remained that way all of this time. Marcus is an incredible painter, designer, artist, and photographer. He is one of...if not the main reason I had a desire to learn to photography. He is one of the most creative guys I know, and it's an honor to have him as a friend. He & his family have a special place in my heart. They recently came to Austin to visit, and we took them to see the Bats under the South Congress Bridge. We also took them to get some Amy's Icecream. I grabbed the Canon AE-1 as we walked out of the door, and these are a few of the photos from yesterday. We had such a blast hanging with these guys!
I can't even begin to express how excited I am to have the new website up and running. My friends at Bull Moose have done an INCREDIBLE job with this thing! They have worked so hard to get it the way I want it, and I am so thankful for it. If you are in need of a website, especially photographers, these are your guys. The custom backend to this website is simple to use, and amazing for uploading and managing photos. You can see their other work at http://bullmooseticket.com.
As a photographer it is nice to finally have all of my work in one central location. I've spent the last week going through my entire collection of photos to get ready for the website. There are some familiar photos on here, and there are a number of new ones that haven't been posted before. I still have two more galleries from my overseas travels to put up. I hope you guys have fun looking around.
Another great thing about the website is that my blog is also here in the same spot. I hope to be able to continue to have frequent updates on the blog. I've got alot of things stirring in my head, and I can't wait to get them written down. If you used to subscribe to my old blog I wanted to let you know that you will need to update your RSS feed. You can do that by clicking HERE or on the RSS link in the bottom right corner. If you are into Twitter you can find me at www.twitter.com/stevenbush
Thanks again for hanging around these last couple of years. You guys have been so supportive of our family, ministry, adoption, and photography. I am excited to see what the days ahead hold for our family.
I had the awesome opportunity of doing a promotional photoshoot for the Austin, TX based band, Courrier, yesterday. We started the morning at 5:30am and shot till about 1:30pm. I went scouting for locations in the small town of Bastrop, TX last week, and it proved to be a wealth of opportunities & locations. The guys have a song called 'Wildfire', and I just so happened upon two acres of burnt trees while on my scouting trip. It was the perfect spot! I already have the memory cards unloaded, the film developed, and I couldn't be more excited about these shots. Courrier has an incredible title for this EP, that I'm not allowed to mention just yet, and I am excited that we got some photos that are going to be able to portray the imagery of the title.
The boys in Courrier are almost finished recording their new EP, and you guys are going to want to buy it. They are super talented, and have great hearts. I'm honored that they trusted me with their photos, and that I get to play a small role in this journey. Check out their myspace at www.myspace.com/courriermusic & you can follow them on twitter at www.twitter.com/courriermusic
Here is a video that they made documenting our shoot yesterday. Enjoy!
here is a b-roll shot from yesterday. i will hopefully have more up soon.
These are some more shots from the same roll of film as the last post. The place we are playing at this week has an old dingy back stage area that is pretty dark, and it has one lone light illuminating the staircase. I wanted to mess around with some long exposure shots, and this is what we came up with. They are fuzzy & out of focus, but I still like them. I will have to try it again when I have a tri-pod with me.
